well yes it is. It won't be extremely because it doesn't fit in the sentence. Yet would be used wrong in the sentence Consequently would work because The sentence introduces something and then tells about an effect of it. Which would make consequently used correctly.

Yet wouldn't work because we have to find a word that replaces thus, consequently works best. Yet would change the meaning of the sentence.
