Select the correct inference of the given passage from "The Cask of Amontillado." "I have my doubts," I replied; "and I was silly enough to pay the full Amontillado price without consulting you in the matter. You were not to be found, and I was fearful of losing a bargain." The narrator was worried he would lose a bargain. The narrator wants his Fortunato to feel superior. The narrator was upset by paying too much for the Amontillado. The narrator could not find Fortunato when he needed him.
My thoughts: I really do not believe that it is the first option because it shows in the text that he made the deal just payed to much for it. It may be the 4th option bc it seems that the narrator made the purchase without first consulting the person. It could also be the third option because it does, in fact, appear that the narrator isn't happy with the purchase. I also do not believe that it is the second option because no part of the text points to the narrator wanting this. Hope this helps!
