I'm guessing it's asking to solve for x? distribute the 1/4 first into (4x and 8). combine like terms (combine the x terms together and the constants together). then add/subtract as needed to put the variable term and the constant term on opposite sides of the equation. divide by the coefficent of x to finish solving for x.
