Adj/Noun/etc? A battered old fedora fell from the top of the shelf A = Determiner Battered = Adj Old = Adj Fedora = Noun Fell = Verb From = Preposition the = Determiner top = of = Preposition the = Determiner shelf = Noun I'm a bit confused with "top" in this context would it be a noun or adjective? I want to say adjective because it is describing the place of the fedora?

barstho:

@Vocaloid

Vocaloid:

I'm more inclined to say noun because top is being used to describe a physical location this isn't really my area of expertise so I'll ask @Shadow and @TheSmartOne to double-check me on this

barstho:

@Vocaloid Yea, I looked into it a bit more and I might just go for noun as well. Because if you'd say "at the top of the mountain" I know top would be a noun. So, it would make sense. Thanks though!

TheSmartOne:

I have to concur with Vocaloid
