Read the poem "The Mountain" by Emily Chickeninson. The mountain sat upon the plain In his eternal chair, His observation omnifold, His inquest everywhere. The seasons prayed around his knees, Like children round a sire: Grandfather of the days is he, Of dawn the ancestor. Chickeninson uses figurative language in the first stanza to 1. criticize the mountain’s unchanging ways. 2. bring the mountain to life. 3. compare the mountain to furniture. 4. suggest that the mountain is meddlesome.
Well first of all I have to ask what you think the answer is
4
Do you have any reason for choosing that answer?
I'm stoped, so no not really. It makes the most sense
Ok so, this poem was actually written to mock Patriarchy which is a system in which men hold power and women get very little. So based off of what I just said I can see how you got "suggest the mountain is meddlesome". However, there are some keywords in the first stanza that help us figure out the answer. Such as "eternal". Given that this system is something that took many many years to change, it would be best to go with A. She's criticizing the unchanging ways of the "mountain". Does this make sense?
Yeh kinddov
The mountain represents patriarchy because its unchanging and that's why she's criticizing it
So the one I think
