wtrlilly4u:

which greek mathematician wrote the most definitive text on geometry, one that is still referred to today?

RiverCrest:

Hi, could you post the answer choices so that helping you would be easier?

wtrlilly4u:

A. Thales B. Pythagoras C. Euclid D. Archimedes E. Hippocrates

MrMudd183:

i think it's B. because none of the others are related to math now, but the only one is B and it's the Pythagorean Theorem which is \[a^2+b^2=c^2\]

Mercury:

Politely disagree with the previous response. All five of these philosophers were involved in mathematics, but only one of them is known for writing a geometry textbook, as well as having a whole field of geometry named after them. http://farside.ph.utexas.edu/Books/Euclid/Elements.pdf

JeliseWh05:

It's Euclid Because He is credited as being the author of The Elements

wtrlilly4u:

So it’s Euclid. Correct?

JeliseWh05:

Yes

wtrlilly4u:

Alright, thank you!

JeliseWh05:
