As American colonists questioned British rule, public discussion focused on topics such as colonial independence and individual rights. In turn, literature from the American Revolutionary period often reflected important political and social themes, including national independence, personal liberty, and individualism. In your opinion, how does the literature of this period influence future generations of American literature? Where have you seen traces of these themes and how were they presented in the other literature you read?

i need help understanding this

MrMudd183:

The American colonists didn't like the way the British was in control of them and the amount of taxes they *the british* put on them *the colonits*. The American colonists took some of the British structure and helped build the Declaration of Independents by stating that they no longer want to be under British control. Some of the taxations the British did lead to some key events in history such as The Boston Tea Party
