A 12-foot ladder rests against the side of a house. The base of the ladder is 3 feet away from the side of the house. How high above the ground is the top of the ladder? Round to the nearest tenth of a foot. A. 9.1 feet B. 11.6 feet C. 12.4 feet D. 153.0 feet
I believe it would be A, or B. I say this because I took 12 - 3 or a possible answer, and the Ultimate height as a possible answer. Sorry I can't give a better description, hopefully you get it right! Sorry lots
it was b :)
Yay!!! Great Going!!
I guess they tried to trip you up with the base part of the question, it was irrelevant to the whole of the problem, I can't believe I fell for that one!
lol
for future reference: this is a classic pythagorean theorem problem, where the ladder is the hypotenuse, the distance between the ladder and the wall is the base, and the wall itself is another leg. x^2 + 3^2 = 12^2, solving for x gets you approx. x = 11.6 feet |dw:1599866371089:dw|
