The graph of a linear function f is shown. (a) Identify the slope, y-intercept, and x-intercept. (b) Write a formula for f. (c) Estimate the zero of f.
@Shadow could you help with this?
@Shadow so I found that the slope is -1/6, and the y-intercept is 4, and the x-intercept is 0, is this correct?
The slope and y intercept are good
The intercept in general is when the slope of the line hits an axis, either the y or x axis
x = 0 is at the origin, and the line doesn't go near it.
In order to find the x intercept, just input 0 for y into the equation of the line, as when it hits 0 elevation it will be intercepting the x-axis.
So you just solve for x
@Shadow , how do I write a formula for f, and find the zero of f?
They might just mean f(x) = equation of the line
The zero is just the point in which it intercepts the x-axis.
Everything make sense?
@Shadow thanks!
