Read this excerpt from The Outsiders. I’m different that way. I mean, my second-oldest brother, Soda, who is sixteen-going-on-seventeen, never cracks a book at all, and my oldest brother, Darrel, who we call Darry, works too long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture, so I’m not like them. And nobody in our gang digs movies and books the way I do. For a while there, I thought I was the only person in the world that did. What is the theme of this excerpt? Being part of a team is meaningful. Growing up means accepting oneself. Nature teaches powerful life lessons. Family traditions are important.
well, the way that he is saying it is that he is different, and feels like an outcast. And that he felt alone, but that must have changed because of something that would occur in the near future. So he wants to feel accepted, or like he is not different. so he needs to accept all of this.
hope that helps.
thank you
