Valeria2020:

There were five football game at the school. The number of hit dogs sold at the first game is show. 523 604 544 596 The mean number of hot dogs sold at all five games was 573 How many hot dogs were sold at the fifth game?

FuzzyFerret:

573*5=2,865 2,685 Hot Dogs were sold at the Fifth Football Game.

Mercury:

Politely disagree with the previous response. If 2,685 were the # of hot dog sold at the fifth game, this would be an extreme positive outlier that would bring the mean much higher than 573. remember that mean = (sum of values) / (# of values) in this case, mean is 573 and # of values is 5 (since there are five games) the sum of values is 523 + 604 + 544 + 596 + x (where x is the missing fifth game value we are trying to solve for) plug everything in and solve for x
