jrreich1:

Which expression is equivalent to (53)−2?

dude:

I am assuming you meant \((5^3)^{-2}\) Please correct me if I am wrong

dude:

First do the parenthesis \(5^3\) \(5\cdot 5\cdot 5=?\)

dude:

Once you do that you can choose to square it immediately or flip it Either way, this should end up as a denominator

snowflake0531:

\[(a^b)^c = a^{bc}\] so \[(5^3)^{-2} = 5^{-6}~~~ which~also~equals~~~\frac{1}{5^6}\]
