prayherlewis:

Andrew is showing his work in simplifying (−5.7 + 2.2) − 1.1. Step 1: (2.2 − 5.7) − 1.1 Step 2: 2.2 − (5.7 + 1.1) Step 3: 2.2 − (6.8) Step 4: −4.6

payton:

do you still need help on this wuestion?

jhonyy9:

so like a first step assume these terms inside parentheses

supie:

Step 1: Solve the things inside of the parentheses \( (−5.7 + 2.2) − 1.1\) \(−3.5−1.1\) \(−5.7 + 2.2=-3.5\)

Step 2: Once you have that solved then subtract Subtract \(−3.5−1.1\)

supie:

Notice what Andrew did wrong was changed the `+` to a `−`.
