America is a descent example of this. You can talk about the 'Chinatowns' of America, where Chinese culture exists in high density in one location, with an American culture surround its borders.

I'm not sure how you define multiculturalism but the definition I've seen actually isn't a conflagration, or combination of cultures, but rather the persisting existence of the cultures living independent from each other. America often engulfs cultures but in instances such as Chinatown, Chinese people instantiate their own culture in zones that sit largely independent of the influence of American culture.

As for positive effect, maybe the economic influence, or just simply being able to experience a wholistic perspective of the Chinese culture in America.
