both sides of the equation by 10
10(3.7x + 1.2) = 10(5.4x - 6.3)
37x + 12 = 54x - 63
subtract 37x from both sides
37x - 37x + 12 = 54x - 37x - 63
12 = 17x - 63
Add 63 to both sides
12 + 63 = 17x - 63 + 63
75 = 17x
divide both sides by 17
75/17 = 17x/17
5 = x
