MiraAngel:

How many ways can you shuffle 7 songs in a playlist? Explain your steps in words or attach a screenshot of your work.

mdobbs6856:

Don't you multiply the number being shuffled by itself?

mdobbs6856:

Number of songs*

Aqual:

C(7,7)=7! (7-7) C(n,r)=n!(n-r)

Shadow:

For the first selection there's 7 choices, then the next choice there's 6, then the next, there's 5, and so on. This is what a permutation is, so you can calculate this by just doing 7! or 7 factorial. This allows you to find all the possible shuffles, which will be a large number. As say song A is first, then we can have song B, C, D, E, F, G for slot 2, then any of ( C, D, E, F, G) in slot 3, but then you have to account for all the other options where maybe slot 1 was G, and slot 2 was E, this is how you get a very large number.
