You should just be able to get the chat by opening the subject. If you don't see the chat it may be hidden so click the icon to the left of main chat that has the crossed out eye. If the chat is in there then just click it to unhide it.

There is no asking for medals. You have to work to get the medals. It isn't fair for people who work super hard to get medals and they don't get one and the people who ask for them always get them
