Rylee06:

Last winter Armand had StartFraction 5 Over 6 EndFraction of a row of stacked logs. At the end of the winter he had StartFraction 8 Over 15 EndFraction of the same row left. How much wood did he burn over the winter?

Rylee06:

helpppp

Mercury:

the amount burned, plus the amount remaining, must be equal to the starting amount therefore: (amount burned) + (amount left) = (starting amount) if we subtract "amount left" from each side we get amount burned = (starting amount) - (amount left) plugging in the values from the problem, we get amount burned = (5/6) - (8/15) so we'll need to subtract 5/6 and 8/15. however, we'd need a common denominator to do this. can you start by finding the least common multiple of 6 and 15?
