Images and captions are text features which often appear in articles. Writing in complete sentences, explain how images and captions can help you understand the main idea.
Please do not copy-paste my response. Typically, authors of articles will include images that are eye-catching and relevant to the main idea. So you can look at the images to get an idea of what the author thinks is important. For example, if there's an article about the harmful effects of dog breeding, the author might choose to show a before and after image of a dog, showing how breeding over many generations harms the dogs in the breed. As for captions, they're simply explanations of what's going on in the image, to help the reader understand. Reading captions also helps understand the author's main point because the author will talk about important aspects of the image and how they're relevant to the article.
