dividing both sides by 5 gives us 1 lb of apples = $0.70

now, going back to 5 lbs of apples costs $3.50 --> doubling this gives us 10 lbs of apples costing 2*3.50 = $7.00

going back again to 5 lbs of apples, tripling gives us 15 lbs costing 3*3.50 = $10.50
