StarSwirlDreamGirl:

Solve for y: 8x - 3y = 17 Option 1: y = -3/8 x - 17/3 Option 2: y = 8/3 x - 17/3 Option 3: y = -8/3 x + 17/3 Option 4: y = 3/8 x + 3/17 PLEASE SHOW STEPS.

StarSwirlDreamGirl:

Can you help with this problem please?

StarSwirlDreamGirl:

Ok thank you.

Mercury:

late response, but remember that, to solve for a variable, think about what's being done to the variable, and do the opposite starting with: 8x - 3y = 17 since 8x is being added to -3y, you can subtract 8x from both sides -3y = 17 - 8x from there, since y is being multiplied by -3, you can divide both sides by -3 to isolate y
