brandonHollinger:

The sum of three consecutive integers is 267. What is the largest integer? I am confused about how to find the consecutive integers

Mercury:

let's suppose one of the integers is x consecutive integers are integers that come directly after one another (ex: 1, 2, 3, or 2, 3, 4, etc.) so, if the first integer is x the next consecutive integer is x + 1 and the third consecutive integers is x + 1 + 1 since the sum is 267 x + (x+1) + (x + 1 + 1) = 267 solve for x. however, you can't just stop there. x is the smallest integer, but it's asking for the largest integer. therefore, once you have x, you'll have to calculate x + 3

brandonHollinger:

so would the answer be 90

brandonHollinger:

90 i think

Mercury:

ah, nvm, 90 is correct

brandonHollinger:

ok thank you
