Honestly, you could get rid of either one because if x isn't given to = anything then it automatically = 1. So 7x and 6x always stay the same, right?

I hate math but I thought it was general knowledge. x = 1 whenever x isn't given in the equation you're working on
It doesn’t *really* matter as long as you perform the same operation on each side However, with experience you’ll learn when it’s advantageous to eliminate from the right vs left In your case, if you subtract 7x from both sides you’ll end up with -x on the right side If you subtract 6x from both sides you’ll end up with positive x on the left side Neither of these are “wrong” but most experienced problem solvers would avoid negative signs when possible
