What led to the shift of power away from Rome, the seat of the Catholic Church?
The Catholic Church was faced with many challenges as it was slowly losing power after it lost key allies such as England, Denmark, and Sweden. They split from the Catholic Church and its influence as it can be seen in example of England which created its own Anglican Church in which the king was also the supreme spiritual leader.
hope it helps :)
