mxddi3:

multiply. write the answer in standard form: 3i(-5+i)

XioGonz:

3i(-5+i)?

mxddi3:

yeah. it's for algebra 2, complex (imaginary) numbers.

XioGonz:

−3−15i

mxddi3:

can you explain how you got it though?

XioGonz:

You have to simplify the real and imaginary parts of the expression.

mxddi3:

ok ty! but can you help me b/c your explanations usually help me @jhonyy9

darkknight:

This is the question 3i(-5+i) First distribute -15i + 3i^2 Now I = sqrt(-1) so if we do i^2 we get -1 so -15i + 3(-1) equals -3-15i
