Devon:

A Ferris wheel has a diameter of 42 feet. It rotates 3 times per minute. Approximately how far will a passenger travel during a 5-minute ride?

Mercury:

during 1 rotation, the passenger travels one time around the whole circle. in other words, the distance they travel is equal to the *circumference* of the circle. As a reminder, circumference = pi * diameter. calculating the circumference gets you the distance of 1 rotation. now, how many rotations are there? at 3 rotations per minute, for five minutes, the total # of rotations = 3 * 5 = 15 so you'd multiply the circumference by 15 to get your solution. when inputting your answer, please notice if they specify whether your answer should be a decimal or in terms of pi.
