How many cans of corn does he buy?
Let x be the number of cans of tomatoes and y be the number of cans of corn.
And it would be x + y = 24 y=24-x
^i did it different, so can you explain tht cuz im confused?
How different is your answer?

cuz if your answer aint matching up to mine then there must be sum im doing wrong idk
ok so i did .80a (a is cans of tomatoes) and .40b (b is cans of corn) then a+b=24 because there are 24 total. then i did .8a +.4b=12.8 since i don't like decimals i multiplied the whole thing by 10 \[8a+4b=128\] then i divided by 4 to get the b isolated and i got \[2a+b=32\] and then since a+b=24 i subtracted it from the 2a+b=32 this looks like: \[2a+b-a-b=32-24\] so olivia can you do 2a+b=32 -a -b= -24 please

^oh ok. well am i finishing or what?
which one do i do 2a+b=32? -a -b= -24 ?
U can finish if ya want ,seems we was doing them different cuz i was doing the decimal way
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @olivia14 which one do i do 2a+b=32? -a -b= -24 ? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) ok so you are going to subtract from both sides. what is 2a-a? what is +b-b? what is 32-24?
2a-a=1a? +b-b= 0? 32-24= 8?
yes,perfect!!! this means that 1a=8 or a=8. now you remember how i put a+b=24 because he bought 24 cans total? now we will substitute the 8 in for a. 8+b=24 solve that, and you will get cans of corn
b=16?
yes!!! he buys 16 cans of corn
ok thank u maddi lmaoo
thanks to everyone!
