There are four blood types, A, B, AB, and O. Blood can also be Rh+ and Rh-. Finally, a blood donor can be classified as either male or female. How many different ways can a donor have his or her blood labeled? List all the classification categories.

counting principle to count the # of possibilities, multiply the # of blood types (4), times 2 (to account for Rh+ and Rh-), times 2 again (for the 2 possible classifications) to list out the # of classification categories, list out every possible combination of blood type, Rh factor, and male/female status ex: one possibility is type A, Rh+ and male keep going with the rest of the possibilities. a probability diagram will help greatly in ensuring you don't miss any.
