Political Islam. Political scientists have observed that the region's youth are increasingly identifying themselves by cultural groups such as religion and language rather than by their nationality. Technological advances and globalization have moved people to preserve their cultural identities. As such, the use of the Arabic language, strict adherence to Islam, and traditional dress and customs have increased in the region.

An increasing number of political leaders and policymakers believe that the principles of Islam must guide government operations. As the younger generation comes of age, these beliefs and practices are likely to continue and increase.
