Is this question talking about who founded the first settlement in Michigan or who founded the state of Michigan? Like in the 1800's?

Two influential members were Lewis Cass (the territorial governor) and Henry Schoolcraft (an explorer). Andrew Jackson actually signed it into law though during his presidential stint. Hopefully this helps.
