Triston27:

How many foreign stamps does Malik have?

XioGonz:

Is there an equation you can provide?

Triston27:

Malik collects rare stamps and has a total of 212 stamps. He has 34 more domestic stamps than foreign stamps. Let x represent the number of domestic stamps and let y represent the number of foreign stamps. This system of equations models the given information for both stamp types. x – y = 34 x + y = 212 Solve the system of equations. How many foreign stamps does Malik have? foreign stamps How many domestic stamps does Malik have? domestic stamps

Warriorz13:

Which formula do you think you should use for this predicament?

Triston27:

liner comination

Warriorz13:

Well, to calculate Foreign stamps.

Lilian9667:

y intercepts

Warriorz13:

And how would you set that up?

Triston27:

idk

Triston27:

sorry i suck st math

Warriorz13:

As do I xD

Warriorz13:

I tend to do things unorthodoxly.

Triston27:

thank u

Mercury:

old question but will elaborate on the solution to help out future users x = number of domestic stamps y = the number of foreign stamps, as defined from the problem the equations are: x – y = 34 x + y = 212 if you add them together, you can eliminate y and solve for x (domestic stamps) then plug that x back into either equation and solve for y (foreign stamps)
