It looked basically entirely different. I can post some old screenshots if you like, or @Eiwoh2 probably has a couple as well
@dude probably has a lot
yeah no please post yourself, i'm still trying to find a reply from old posts LOL
I also think BlankSpace made a post about some old QC screenshots too. I'll dig for that and send the link over here.
Aha!
^ There's a reply I could find on what drove him to create the site. :)
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Eiwoh2 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Dang that's deep. Well I'm glad you did this ultri.
Aaaaaand, here's the post on old QC screenshots! https://questioncove.com/users/blankspace#/updates/5e8ebe8145c32c49e8a87000
That's still pretty recent @dude, I don't think I added the all subjects feature for like a year after launch... I can't remember... hard to believe it's almost been 5 years
I still have my mind fresh on when I first joined in early 2017. Site was still very much on beta, and I remember there was sort of an oceanic kind of thing going on in the background. I was also initially impressed by the bbcode of color which I discovered and loved immediately the first few days. xD
I still remember the first couple of days after launch... profiles didn't even exist yet, the only features was the subjects, chats, questions, closing questions, deleting questions chats and replies, equation, drawtool, and notebook. The messages feature I don't think came out for a week after, and the next couple days I added fans. The next week was the old profile page and the current settings page. I kinda forget what the old signup page looked like. I should find an old copy of the code I have lying around and spin up a vm of it and explore. Lol
testimonials came I think 8 months after launch, and I added questions answers/asked around the same time as testimonials if memory serves
You know what you could have? An annual "QuestionCove Day", a celebration of sorts on the site to commemorate the date it was officially launched, if you still (and probably def do) remember when that was. There, we can share old screenshots, maybe make the theme of the site an OG one for a couple of hours, and just remember the first days and years. 👀
I mean there used to be an accessible backup old version up but you took it down );
actually no, that still very much exists. It's just not accessible. LOL
But I think that was still a newer version. hm. I need to dig to find the oldest copy still have of the codebase. Unfortunately I only recently started using version control for QC (2 years ago I think now) so it's just various backup folders around on my hard drive
Wow, Thank you so much for making Question Cove, Ultrilliam, and super sorry you went thru that in life and school. Thanks again! <3
ohhhh yea... that's what it looked like
G a s p. Nostalgia 100
I really need to make a new signup page... again
You considerin' that QC Day idea tho, Jay? 👀
one that is more informative about QC so we can increase conversion rate even more
It's a cool day, will probably do it for the 5th anniversary coming up on June 27th :)
maybe to celebrate the 5th anniversary of QuestionCove we could do a huge like 1k giveaway if we grow big enough. Idk, we'll see what the future holds ;)
ok now THAT is a certified hood classic
Those days when Jay had like 4 designations to his name xD
