That's why blood turns bright cherry red when oxygen binds to its iron. Without oxygen connected, blood is a darker red color."

BrunotheRAT:

blood is dark red in the bdy and light red in oxygen

XioGonz:

Does the blood only look blue because of the skin and outer layer of the vein covering it?

MrMudd183:

Blood may look blue, but those are your veins that are blue. The bloodcells themselves are also blue, but once oxygen makes contact with the cells, they turn red.

dude:

Hmm not quite true. Common misconception on blood cells is that they are blue. This is not true. Blood cells are red. In addition to that, they always carry oxygen themselves. The shade or red obviously tells how much oxygen they have The colors you see is the reflection of light to your skin, not the blood itself

XioGonz:

Ahh
