(Pre-Algebra) Improper Fractions, Mixed Fractions, and finding Equivalent Expressions
So here we have the equation 16/5 and have to turn it into a Mixed Fraction. The First Step to putting it into a Mixed Fraction is... You see how many 5's can go into 16, which can be put into 16, 3 times. So In that case the whole number would be 3, then you place the remaining fraction on the right of the whole number So, In that case your Final answer should be 3 1/5
Now, How do you turn a mixed fraction into an improper fraction? Well, you have an equation like 5 2/4, So In that case... You would multiply 5*4 which would then be 20. You then add your 2+20 which would equal 22, Your final answer should look like 22/4
And one more thing, How do you look for equivalent expressions? So you look at a fraction like 2/4... which comparatively is 50%... So, Whenever you look at a fraction that is 5/10, 6/12, 50/100 You can find either the probability of the answer and find equivalent expressions to do so, Or better yet If you find an equation like 4/8... You can equivalent expressions by using the same method above, finding the probability of the fraction.
