supie:

Find the domain for the rational function f of x equals quantity x end quantity divided by quantity x minus 5 end quantity. (−∞, 0) (0, ∞) (−∞, 1) (1, ∞) (−∞, 5) (5, ∞) (−∞, −5) (−5, ∞)

Laylalyssa:

hmm

Laylalyssa:

do I have to

supie:

I think its (−∞, 5) (5, ∞) I'm just not sure if thats correct......

Laylalyssa:

why u say that

darkknight:

f(x) = x/(x-5) ???

supie:

Yeah.

darkknight:

Okay, so this is the function the domain is whenever the bottom of the function doesn't equal to zero. The denominator is x-5, so when x=5, then the bottom is zero, This would make the function undefined. So everywhere else the domain is defined (except for at x=5). So what is your answer?

supie:

That would make the answer (−∞, 5) (5, ∞) ??

darkknight:

yes. Good luck with your assignment : )
