help plz...

payton:

darkknight:

Okay, I got you

darkknight:

So lets find the equation of the line, so the y intercept is -2.5, the slope we can find knowing 2 points. 2 points on this line are (8,3) and (-4,-5) Can you find the slope?

payton:

uhmm...

payton:

3?

darkknight:

For more clarification, the slope formula is this (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) (8,3) and (-4,-5) So x1 = 8 y1 = 3 x2 = -4 y2 = -5 (-5-3)/(-4-8) = ?

payton:

0.6 repeating

darkknight:

lets just say 2/3

darkknight:

Now the slope is 2/3 and the y intercept is -2.5 so y = 2/3x - 2.5 But it is an inequality, not an equals to So we see the shaded region to be above the line, so y > 2/3x-2.5 looking at the graph the line is dotted, so not included (meaning that is it just greater than not greater than or equal to) so y > 2/3x-2.5 is the equation.

darkknight:

Now this doesn't fit any of our answer choices because we need to convert to standard form, think you could do that?

darkknight:

@payton ?

ScamTheMan:

You can also always use desmos to find the answer, it's a quicker faster way. https://www.desmos.com/calculator

darkknight:

No, it really isn't, using desmos doesn't teach you the skill that you are supposed to know. So just learn the process and it will be much easier in life later on

ScamTheMan:

It's the 21st century, everyone's holding a super computer in their back pocket, a quick google search can tell you this basic information. It's only useful if you're going into a career that is math oriented. Not many people are going to find the skill of finding inequalities from a graph useful.

ScamTheMan:

Later in life that is

Omazing:

hmmm ion fw this kinda math fr

darkknight:

Alright, Payton whenever you get on communicate.

payton:

oh i got it already thx tho

darkknight:

all good
