1. A population in a barangay starts with 1,000 individuals and triples every 10 years. Give an exponential model to represents the population. What is the population of the barangay after 20 years?

Mercury:

general form of an exponential equation: y = (a)(b)^x where a is the initial value, b is the rate of increase/decrease, and x is the independent variable (time) your initial population (a-value) is 1,000 because the population triples, the b-value is 3 now, let's let x = # of years since it only triples every 10 years, we have to divide x/10 instead of using just x once you have your model set up, plug in x = 20 to find the population after 20 years
