two bike riders X and Y start at 2pm riding towards each other from 40 km apart. X rides at 30km/h. Y at 20km/h. find at what time they will meet

if they're heading towards each other, one at 30 km/hr and the other at 20 km/hr, then every hour they get 30 + 20 = 50km closer to each other. so considering d = rt, plug in d = 40 km, r = 50km/hr and solve for t. then, considering that the start time is 2pm, calculate the end time based on your t-value
