PLZHELPME:

Quadrilateral XENA is a parallelogram. T is the point of intersection of the diagonals. Segment ET = y-1 and segment EA = 3y - 10. Solve for y. PLZ HELP

jhonyy9:

do you can post an image about this parallelogram ? maybe in this way ? |dw:1607121176168:dw|

jhonyy9:

do you know the total sum of angle measure of a parallelogram equal how many ?

PLZHELPME:

That's all it says, sorry.

jhonyy9:

ok but you know the sum of angle measure of a triangle equal how many ?

jhonyy9:

@Five

jhonyy9:

so the sum of angle measure of a triangle equal 180 degrees using this how you think the sum of angle measure of a parallelogram how many will be ?

PLZHELPME:

oh so y=18

jhonyy9:

how you get this value ?

PLZHELPME:

(7x-5)+(3x+5)=180

PLZHELPME:

(7(18)-5)=121

PLZHELPME:

(3(18)+5)=59

jhonyy9:

no you not can use this in this way because there are two triangles so the sum of angle measure of a parallelogram will be 2*180 = 360 degrees ok ?

PLZHELPME:

It says it's correct

Same side interior angles.....idk it made no sense to me either but i guess i was suppose to look at it this way

jhonyy9:

(7x-5)+(3x+5)=180 so this you ve wrote above and now just multiplie it by 2 bc. the sum of angle measure of a parallelogram is 360 degree and in this way will get 2*[(7x-5) +(3x+5)] = 2*180 solve this please for x

jhonyy9:

this is the same how you solved the other one

jhonyy9:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @jhonyy9 so how i ve said these given angle measure doubled will give you 360 degrees how can you write this using the given angle measures with y ? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

jhonyy9:

7y-5 +3y+5 = 180 yes ?

jhonyy9:

and from this y = ?

PLZHELPME:

If you plug the 18 in the values are correct and =180

jhonyy9:

yes of cors
