Can anyone explain what chords, secants, and points of tagency are? I have an assignment for this, and we never received a lesson on it.
A line will meet a circle no more than two points. We call a line a secant if it crosses twice, and a tangent if it crosses once (just touching at a single point). Chords are segments toughing two points on a circle, so chords become secants when extended.
