hymnplayer:

a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

mxddi3:

ok yeah so you're on the right track. first, do you have answer choices? and also, what did you interpret the meaning of this writing to be ?

hymnplayer:

no answer choices, and I believe the poem is talking about how they are taking there time not worrying about anything.

mxddi3:

So i read it as they were just trying to be careful in this perfect, carefree world. so if i give you an example of a metaphor here and explain it, you need to do the same with another. So one example from here that I saw as a metaphor was "Let us walk in the white snow" White symbolizes purity so I took it as them walking in this pure world. do you think you can find another based off that?

hymnplayer:

" we shall walk in velvet shoes" velvet is rich material and they are taking there time looking around and sellin the roses?

mxddi3:

that's good ! they are in no hurry at all, yes. They are taking their time and just living in the moment. also, a quick note, velvet is a gentle material and i see it as they are being gentle to this innocent world in which they live. make sense?

hymnplayer:

yep, thanks!
