"Admissions officers are looking to create a class made up of students with diverse interests and backgrounds. They'll look closely at your extracurriculars to get a sense of the person you are and what you care about." https://www.princetonreview.com/college-advice/extracurricular-activities "

I use this website called CollegeVine and it's specifically made for questions like this. Definitely go make an account, it has helped me tons with college preparations.
They will do a review, which means that admissions officers analyze the applicant as a whole not just his or her academic accomplishments. Most of the time tho, admissions officers will take what you have on your application as true or genuine without being questioned or doubted. They will however, do some double checking on some awards, whether it's asking your school or just searching other sources.
