karleigh:

Jimmy and John are trying to put a mixture together of blue jelly beans and red jelly beans for a souvenir gift. The blue jelly beans cost $0.28 per ounce and the red jelly beans cost $0.55 per ounce. They would like their gift bags to cost $2.20 per bag. Use complete sentences to explain why or why not it would be reasonable to say that the mixture could contain 4 ounces of blue jelly beans and 3 ounces of red jelly beans.

nalaynana:

i found this on google maybe it can help "4 + 3 = 7 so that it would be seven us dollars would be over 2.20"

XxxunknownxxX:

wait so you just searched it up on google instead of doing it your self??

Mercury:

Please do not copy-paste my response. in general, the cost of (x) items that cost (y) each is x*y applying this to our problem, let's say r = the lbs of red beans and b = the lbs of blue beans if blue beans are $0.28 per oz, then (b) oz. costs 0.28b same logic with red: 0.55r if we want the whole bag to cost $2.20, then 0.28b + 0.55r = 2.20 now, to check whether a bag of 4 ounces of blue jelly beans and 3 ounces of red jelly beans could fit this price model, simply plug in b = 4 and r = 3 and see whether the equation is equal
