In which two ways did Deng Xiaoping bring about economic reform in China after Mao Zedong’s death? Deng required the farmers to give up their land to the government, as well as any profits earned from surplus crops. Deng encouraged the production of raw materials such as iron and steel, and he provided industrial workers with incentives. Deng encouraged students to travel abroad to revive China’s education system, which had suffered during Mao's regime. Deng stopped providing funding for agriculture because he wanted to direct all the funds toward improving China's trade. Deng encouraged families to send their children to work in factories in order to maximize production and increase profits.
