In my opinion, there is a great importance of friends in our lives. Many people may not see it, but being a 6th grader can be difficult. Say, when you need help with understanding something, your friends will almost always be there to help. Friendship is essential in childhood because it is important to know there are always people in your corner. Friendship also sparks imagination and helps with social skills. Friendship also helps children in developing self-awareness, self-respect, and self-esteem. Having someone to lean on say, after a loved one passes or when you go through a breakup, is always a good thing. Even if middle school relationships usually last somewhere around a month or two. Friendship is important because children need someone to goof around with and someone to just have fun with. Whether that be a sibling or a life long friend. In my opinion, it's just good to have someone who understands what your going through most times. Or someone who will be there for you. Someone to grow up beside. Someone to share your pain with. Someone to stick up for you. Someone to stick up for you. Someone to laugh at all your stupid mistakes.

See, friendship is just a part of growing up. Some people who don't have as many friends will usually be quieter and reserved. Someone who has many friends will be more open. There was actually a study on this topic. In this study, as said in the text "For children, making friends is a vital part of growing up and an essential part of their social and emotional development. Attributes such as social competence, altruism, self-esteem, and self-confidence have all been found to be positively correlated to having friends. Studies have found that friendships enable children to learn more about themselves and develop their own identity. And, as children mature, friends are able to help reduce stress and navigate challenging developmental experiences, especially during teenage years."
