Piece of Cheesecake by Tirzah Tyler Margie and Jorge, a cheerleader and a football player, were friends. They would always eat dinner together after cheerleading practice and football practice. Margie liked to think up very difficult riddles and get Jorge to guess the answers. Jorge did not like this, especially since he would have to buy Margie dessert anytime he would answer a riddle wrong. One day, Jorge thought of a riddle and hoped that he could finally outwit his friend. After Margie had taken her first bite of pepperoni, Jorge said, "I have a riddle, but if you can't solve it, you have to buy me a piece of cheesecake. Deal?" Margie knitted her brows and replied with her mouth full, "You don't like cheesecake. I like cheesecake. You like fruit." Jorge shrugged his shoulders. "Doesn't matter." Margie swallowed and smiled. "All right, you have a deal. What's the riddle?" "This object quietly waits for me, as it often does faithfully, right before it bears the weight of my most prized possession," Jorge said. He picked up his backpack and pointed at it. "What is this object?" Margie smiled. "So, you're saying that the object from the riddle is in your backpack?" Jorge nodded. "That is so easy," Margie declared. "OK, your most prized possession is your football. The object that waits faithfully to bear its weight is your football kicking tee." She laughed and added, "Cheesecake, please." Jorge snickered, unzipped his backpack, and removed a pillow. "Wrong," he said with a smile. "The answer is a pillow?" "It quietly and faithfully waits for me to lay my head on it at night. It bears the weight of my head, which is my most prized possession," Jorge replied with a smile. "When you order my cheesecake, please make sure it's topped with plenty of strawberries." 1 What is the best summary of the passage? A.
