CocoCammron:

Read the selection from the section "Abraham and the Torah." Yahweh, it is said, visited Abraham and told him to smash the statues of his father's gods. Abraham was commanded to worship Yahweh only. Based on the selection, which of the following is TRUE? A Yahweh was happy that Abraham had been worshiping his father's gods. B Yahweh was not sure that Abraham would listen to his commands. C Abraham's people worshiped many gods before they worshiped Yahweh only. D Abraham's people did not believe him when he told them to worship Yahweh only.

Floo:

Well, both c and d are technically correct. God (I don't believe in Yahweh) commanded Abraham to destroy the idols on the day of their celebration when they will be preoccupied. He destroyed all the small statues and left the biggest one. When the people came and found their idols destroyed they blamed Abraham. e theorized the idols fought over who will get the largest offering, and in turn, destroyed one another. One of the idol-worshippers argued that they are only stone and that they cannot know nor care who gets what. So prophet Abraham said, "you deny their knowledge yet you worship them. Anyways answer c. is correct because it is true they were polythetic people before the religion of Abraham. Answer choice d is correct also. They did not toss away the religion they inherited from their forefathers because Abraham said so. If you can put down the answer for future reference; there are those who might still need it
