Help in Leadership class Gary wants to get scholarship offers to play football in college. He sets the following goal for himself: This season, I want to increase my passing yards from 40 yard per game to 350. I do not want to throw any interceptions. And I need to be the star of every game so scouts notice me. Which statement best describes Gary's goal? Gary's goal is ineffective because it is not attainable. Gary's goal is effective and realistic because it shows that he is going to be successful because college is very important to him. Gary's goal is ineffective and unrealistic because he does not have enough experience. Gary's goal is effective and realistic because it includes the improvement he wants to make and the time frame he has to complete the goal.

ramen:

First of all, do you think gary's goal is effective or no

SavageHailey:

no

ramen:

Same, so we can eliminate B and D. What do you believe the answer is? We only have a and c for our options.

SavageHailey:

a or c

SavageHailey:

uhhhh

SavageHailey:

but it doesnt say if he does or doesnt how much expierence he has

SavageHailey:

i spell that weird

ramen:

Yup that's what I was thinking too. So you think it is A?

SavageHailey:

uhhh no

SavageHailey:

idk yet

SavageHailey:

i mean i guess a, it makes the most since i guess

ramen:

Yea that's what I think, Ion think it's attainable to go from 40 to all of a sudden 350 yards. It's also almost impossible not to through any interceptions, and it would be awhile till he is the star of the team.

ramen:

What do you think?

SavageHailey:

wym?

ramen:

Like do you think you got this problem down now?

SavageHailey:

idk

ramen:

What are you still stucc on?

SavageHailey:

my whole exam

SavageHailey:

pfft-

ramen:

Are you done with this problem tho?

SavageHailey:

yeah, i guess

ramen:

ok i guess

jimthompson5910:

350 yards per game seems high, but it's still possible according to this https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/passing-yards-per-game Though keep in mind those are college football rankings and not high school. So you could argue that 350 is out of the realm of high school. Also, one could argue that going from 40 to 350 is a very unrealistic jump. It's a (350-40)/40 = 7.75 = 775% increase which may be well outside the norm. Also unlikely is doing all this without a single interception. Even in the NFL the best quarterbacks make mistakes for a number of reasons. I agree that this goal is simply unattainable.
