The Presidency of John Quincy Adams Question.
Alright so first of all what was his Native American policy (Indigenous people).
Prolly "use his patronage powers to build support for his proposals and refused to fire federal officeholders who openly opposed his policies.:?
No that's not relating to Native American tribes. Check the paragraph underneath that one.
"the state and federal governments had a duty to abide by Indian treaties and to purchase, not merely annex, Indian lands."?
That's part of it, but what does it say that he specifically did regarding fraudulent treaties?
Oh this part."decision to repudiate and renegotiate a fraudulent treaty that stripped the Georgia Creek Indians of their land outraged land-hungry Southerners and Westerners."?
Yeah so because of that specific action a lot of people were upset with his Native American policy.
Bc he was givin the land back to the native american bc he though it was unfair.
He at least made them purchase the land from them. Just word that in an academic way and you should have your answer.
Ok so, Adams gave back land to some native americans but also had them but some land back, and he got a lot of backlash from those who stole the natives americans land? (And I gtg)
Basically yeah, just polish your answer a bit more.
Ight thx
