Now lets take option A, this is incorrect because when the sentence is specifying what one of our most important drugs is, it needs a comma after penicillin which it lacks. Now looking at option D this is just worded wrong. The way it is worded either seems as if there is more to the sentence or in an unusual tense which wouldn't make sense/fit context, therefore C is correct
